Install rootRetote
Install a maintained Node.js release, version 22.12 or later, from the official Node.js distribution. Run either public package on the device you own or are authorized to administer:
npx -y @rootenterprise/rootretote@latest remote npx -y rootretote@latest remote
Default invocation starts local stdio MCP:
npx -y @rootenterprise/rootretote@latest npx -y rootretote@latest
First enrollment prints a short-lived code for device verification. Sign in to the owner account before verifying an already claimed device. Keep the device process running while remote access is needed. Its credentials remain outside disposable package caches.
Run install to materialize a persistent runtime, status to inspect installation state, and pair for another short-lived code. Linux systemd startup is an explicit install --startup option; it does not itself start another process. Preserve custom server, state, and filesystem-root options shown by --help. Windows and macOS startup services are not supplied by that command.
Native owner operations use platform facilities available on the installation. Confined shared file operations currently require Linux. Browser control requires an explicitly enabled loopback debugging interface. The Linux desktop configuration is installed separately.
MCP endpoint: https://rootretote.com/mcp. Use the client's supported OAuth Dynamic Client Registration workflow and review its consent. Recovery and updates.
